UCS Abbreviation of Universal Character Set. 4-byte character set, standardized in ISO-10646, that contains all other character sets. The UCS character set is currently identical to the Unicode character set; in other words it contains no additional characters not contained in Unicode. Character representations for the UCS character set are the UTF representations UCS-2 and UCS-4.
